About Me
My name is Joseph Schneider. Originally from Lima, Peru, I earned two summa cum laude bachelor’s degrees in Economics and International Relations from ITAM in Mexico City. While at ITAM, I had the privilege of leading El Supuesto newspaper and publishing articles in major outlets such as Reforma, El Heraldo de México, Foreign Affairs Latinoamérica, and Animal Político. I also contributed regularly to Reforma, one of Mexico’s newspapers of record, and spearheaded a 50% expansion of El Supuesto’s World News Section in its printed edition.
Following my undergraduate studies, I completed a master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where I served as Editor-in-Chief of The SAIS Observer. In the summer of 2024, I interned at the Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET), authoring two extensive research reports, each exceeding 70 pages.
Having lived in three countries (Peru, Mexico, and the United States) and being professionally proficient in five languages (English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese) and conversational in three others (German, Russian, Hebrew), understanding why people and nations act the way they do is one of my foremost passions. So is asking the big questions in life. It is therefore no surprise that international relations is my field of choice. Within that realm, my favorite topics include national security, statecraft, and strategy, Europe, the Middle East, North America, Africa, and Latin America. Going forward, I aim to blend my cosmopolitan passions with my analytical and writing skills to make meaningful contributions in the field.
